Thank you for making your reservation at the Blue Vista Resort. We look forward to providing you with a genuine Gulf Islands experience. Please review the reservation information below and let us know as soon as possible if any changes are required.

We have included some information about our resort, Mayne Island and provided you with some website links which we hope will help in planning your trip to the Island.

Please read the following information carefully:

Cancellation/Change Policy :

  • $25 (plus taxes) administration charge for all cancellations
  • If you must cancel less than 14 days prior to your arrival (October-June) or less than 30 days prior to arrival (July -September, all long weekends, Christmas, Easter and Spring Break) you will forfeit your deposit and be required to pay for all nights reserved unless we rebook the space.
  • Changes either before or during you stay that decrease the number of nights are subject to the same guidelines as a cancellation and require full payment if we are unable to re-book the nights cancelled. 

About our resort:

We are a small cottage resort that provides a peaceful get away for couples, singles, families, and small groups looking for a quiet retreat.

  • Cable TV & WiFi are available on the grounds.
  • Some DVD players are available for rent at $5/day
  • Kitchens are fully equipped with:
    • refrigerator, stove, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, dish soap.
  • Bathrooms include soap and shampoo.
  • Linens are provided for the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen
  • Propane barbeques and picnic tables are on the grounds for guests to share
  • Firewood for cabins with fireplaces is complimentary for the first fire
    • and then $5/bundle
  • Laundry is $10/load when resort's machines are not in use
  • Quiet Time at the resort is between 10pm and 8 am
  • Beach access is within walking distance.

Housekeeping Cottages:  Guests are expected to leave the cabins in similar conditions as to how they were upon arrival. As such, a minimum charge of $30 will be added to the bill for dishwashing, putting items back to where they were upon arrival, etc.

Damages:  If an accident occurs during a guest's stay, that guest shall be responsible for all costs incurred to replace or repair the building, furnishings or grounds.

Pet Policy:  Certain cottages have been designated as pet-friendly, with an additional charge of $15/night per dog. To ensure all guests' safety and enjoyment, the following policies apply:

  • Dogs must be spayed or neutered, well-trained quiet housedogs under 40 pounds
  • Dogs must be on leash all times on the grounds and on the island
  • Dogs can never be tied outside: to posts, trees, balconies, etc.
  • Dogs can never be left unsupervised in the cabins or in vehicles
  • Dogs cannot be on the furniture, nor are they permitted in the cabin when wet
  • Guests must clean up after their animals and keep them quiet and controlled

If guests with dogs cannot comply with these conditions, they will be asked to leave and additional charges may also apply.

Smoking: Smoking is Not Permitted in the cottages. Smoking is permitted outside only. Ashtrays are provided. Smokers are asked to keep butts in ashtrays as both a safety and hygienic precaution. Any guests found smoking in the cottages will be asked to leave and may incur an additional cleaning fee of a minimum of $500.

Parking: There is one parking space allocated to each cottage. Additional cars must be parked on the street.

Information Specific to Groups:

  • Quiet Time: Given the nature of our resort environment (quiet and peaceful) and the proximity of the cottages to each other and to the residential properties in the neighbourhood we ask that you please respect our resort quiet time from 10:00 pm - 8:00 am.
  • Kitchens: When sharing kitchens with other guests or having group meals please return all kitchen items to their respective cottage by the end of your stay.
  • Visitors: Our water and septic systems are designed to handle our peak loads but no more. We ask that you please keep visitors or guests to a minimum with short stays. We do not permit non-registered guests to shower or change in our cottages.
  • Group Activities: Please obtain permission in advance for all group events (like barbeques) on the property. Scheduling with other groups may be necessary. A site fee may apply if non registered guests are participating.
  • Group Cleaning and Damage fees: Groups will be charged an additional $30 per cottage if kitchen equipment is missing or not back in the appropriate cottage, dishes are not done or excessive cleaning is required. Additional charges will levied for damages beyond normal wear and tear. 

Getting to Mayne Island:

Traveling by ferry is part of experiencing life on the Gulf Islands. We strongly recommend travelers coming from Vancouver (Tsawwassen) make reservations in the summer, on holiday weekends and on most weekends year round. Reserve on-line at www.bcferries.com or call toll free in BC 1-888-223-3779 or 1-250-386-3431 outside of BC. Travelers from Victoria (Swartz Bay) can not make reservations but travel on a first come first served basis. Arrive 30-40 minutes ahead of scheduled times.

Mayne Island Services: Mayne Island is a quiet, peaceful, rural community with basic services and a casual attitude. Groceries, basic supplies, fuel, restaurants, tennis courtsand a health centre are available, but with limited hours. Plan accordingly if you are arriving late. Relax, take walks, cycle, kayak, hike, beach comb, visit artist galleries, attend a folk music night, tour the Japanese Gardens, or learn the Island's history at the museum.

Massages are available on the island.  Advance reservations are recommended.  One therapist works out of the island health centre and advance reservations can be made by emailing meadowdove@gmail.com

Corporate & Group Meetings can also be organized with local meetings centres and caterers.  (Call for details)

Specialized retreats are currently being organized for photography, writing, bird watching, mushrooming and women's wellness.  Call for details.
